Hi and welcome! Thank you for visiting my art. Please peruse and enjoy my fluid, poured paintings, my palette knife paintings, my geometric and floral paintings. There are many varieties of top quality prints available here. My original abstract paintings are available on my website: www.sallytrace.net.

Following is a brief biography:

I was born in New Jersey in the 50s. While I was still at home as a preschooler, my mother took a correspondence course in art history. From Michelangelo to Picasso to Dali, those big color plates and books full of prints had an enormous impact on my young mind. I learned that I could draw well and had a strong desire to be an artist.

After moving to Pennsylvania, I studied Fine Art at Bucks County Community College and graduated with honors. During my time at Bucks, I was influenced by the late art historian Hafez Chehab, by his love for modern art, his enthusiasm for beautiful compositions, harmonious colors, lively brushwork.

I was also influenced by the sculptures of Bernie Mangiaracina, and served an apprenticeship in bronze casting with Bernie. My work is still informed by his Brancusi-like, elegant curving sculptural forms.
I have sold my original paintings all over the United States and also in Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia and Brazil.

I took courses and workshops at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, including portraiture, color theory and colorfield abstraction.

I focused on commissioned portraiture for many years, but my true love was always abstraction. In 2000-2004 I showed my abstracts locally in the Philadelphia and New York areas, including the Rittenhouse Square Fine Arts Annual, and the Bowery Gallery in Chelsea. In 2005 I made the decision to show my paintings online only. This provides tremendous artistic freedom and allows me to stay in my studio, which gives me great joy.

My paintings have been featured on book covers and brochures, and played a role in the movie “Universal Signs” in which the leading man is an artist.

Today my inspiration comes from the sheer joy of painting, from the love of my family, and as time goes by it is more and more connected to my spirituality.
